The Automotive Tender Management Cost Accountant is responsible for the financial aspects of the tender process, including cost build-up, pricing analysis and budget management. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of cost accounting principles. The Cost Accountant will work closely with the Automotive Tender Management Manager, Sales team, and Cost & Budget team to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Cost Build-Up: Develop detailed cost build-ups for tender proposals, and direct sales considering all direct and indirect costs, including materials, labor, manufacturing, logistics, overhead, and other relevant expenses. Ensure cost estimates are accurate, comprehensive, and reflect the latest market conditions.
Pricing Analysis: Analyze cost data to determine competitive pricing strategies that maximize profitability while meeting customer budget requirements. Consider different pricing models and evaluate their impact on tender success.
Budget Management: Work with the Finance/Cost & Budget team to manage budgets related to tender preparation and sales activities. Track expenses, analyze variances, and provide regular reports on budget performance.
Tender Preparation Support: Assist the Automotive Tender Management Manager in preparing tender documents by providing accurate cost and pricing information. Ensure all financial aspects of the tender are compliant with company policies and regulations.
Liaison with Finance/Cost & Budget Team: Act as the primary point of contact between the Tender Management team and the Finance/Cost & Budget team. Communicate cost and pricing information effectively, ensuring alignment between tender proposals and overall financial strategy.
Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports on tender and sales costs, pricing, and profitability. Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to ensure efficient use of resources during the tender and sales process. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
Contract Review: Review contract terms and conditions from a financial perspective, ensuring compliance with company policies and identifying potential financial risks.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of tender costing and pricing processes, incorporating best practices and lessons learned.
Skills & Competencies:
Cost Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and methods.
Financial Analysis Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and develop insightful reports.
Pricing Strategy Knowledge: Understanding of different pricing models and their impact on profitability.
Budget Management Skills: Ability to manage budgets effectively and track expenses.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop effective solutions.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
Knowledge of Tender Processes: Familiarity with tender processes and regulations is a plus.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or a related accounting role.
Experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
Experience with tender costing and pricing is highly desirable.
