Job Description

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), founded in 1970, through a tripartite agreement of the Norad and SIDA seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, is reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 530/2023 as a biomedical research arm of Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia and beyond.

The Division of the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) research secured a project calledMAMS4CL funded by the EDCTP. Thus, the division is looking for a self-driven, motivated, innovative, and energetic Project Coordinator to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Coordinates the MMS4CL research project and assist on other projects as needed

  • Closely work with project staffs in planning for field work, facilitating field data collection, and handling sample transportation and storage.

  • Develop and implement foreign and domestic purchasing plans for consumables, reagents, and sample collection tools.

  • Ensure all project activities comply with ethical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and AHRI policies; track and request extension for ethical and regulatory approvals.

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, agreements, and records of project activities and finance.

  • Optimize the use of project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Act as a liaison with national and international project partners concerning the MMS4CL activities, including finance and data.

  • Prepare a system for tracking project deliverables, activities and financial 

  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the PI, and the MNTD division head

  • Prepare budget forecasts and communicate with partners when approved by the PI, 

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders; including project team members, partners, and donors.

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that project deliverables meet the highest standards.

  • Conduct project evaluations and gather feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve project processes and outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in project management practices.

  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the principal investigator (PI) to meet the objectives of the project. 

Job Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Business administration, or other related fields. 

  • Experience in Project coordination in research study environment is an advantage

Duty station: Primarily at the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) in Addis Ababa with frequent travel to study sites, South Wollo and Southern Ethiopia. 

Number required: 1 (One)

Salary: As per the organization scale

Terms of employment: one year contract period with full-time employment basis, with possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
