Job Description
The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing the hospital's inventory and fixed assets while conducting comprehensive cost analysis to support financial sustainability and operational excellence. This role requires collaboration with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to regulatory requirements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on E.R.C.A.
Inventory Management
Control and record all hospital inventories, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
Conduct annual and semi-annual physical inventory counts, reconciling discrepancies with recorded amounts.
Control and record all hospital inventories using existing software and ERP systems, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
Optimize the use of current inventory tracking systems to enhance efficiency.
Fixed Assets Management
Maintain detailed records of fixed assets, including acquisition costs, depreciation, and disposals.
Conduct periodic audits of fixed assets to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with financial regulations.
3. Cost Analysis
Analyze costs related to hospital operations, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
Prepare detailed cost reports for management, highlighting key trends and variances to inform decision-making.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant cost data and insights.
4. E.R.C.A Reporting
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to ensure compliance and transparency.
5. Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present financial reports, including findings from inventory counts and cost analyses, to the Director of Finance.
Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
6. Collaboration and Support
Work closely with the budgeting and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective practices and alignment with organizational goals.
Assist in the implementation of cost control measures and financial efficiency initiatives as directed by the Director of Finance.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role, preferably 2 years in a healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting practices, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (certifications in specific software may be an advantage but are not required).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple departments.
