To ensure effective utilization of project funds according to AMREF HEALTH AFRICA IN ETHIOPIA policies and procedures and donor guidelines. Under the supervision of the Finance and admin officer, the Assistant Accountant- support various aspects of the accounting team’s activities including: balance sheet account reconciliations, providing detailed analysis and accounting system support, assist staff across the organization in understanding the organization’s accounting processes and systems.
Specifics Responsibilities
Check financial document for completeness, accuracy and check for adherence of policies (Ensure compliance with AMREF, donors and government policy) on data payment / requested
See the costs are reasonable, allowable and allocable to a specific project; perform specific action from cost principles point of view
Verify and Prepare payments for Workshop, staff Advance, claim etc.
Timely allocation of staff and vender accounts for assigned vendors or reginal team (for the reginal office / field office)
Prepare and process statutory payment like, WHT tax, income tax, pension timely
Ensure timely preparation assigned bank account reconciliations and prepare JV’s for subsequent clearances
Issue CRV timely based on bank advice
Serve as a backup for finance and admin officer
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor
Prepare VAT refund claim follow the process up to refund, check the VAT when not recorded on the ledger and inform to the manager to act
Ensure proof of payment, stamping etc.
Manage petty cash
Collect bank statement monthly from all the banks
Prepare and provide reports to the manage
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the areas of financial and project management expertise.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
High level of analytical and interpretative problem solving.
Computer literacy, including facility with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications
Ability to develop and implement solutions independently
