Job Description
Medical Teams International Calling:

To provide quality health care and medical services for refugees and returnees in Ura.
Provide comprehensive consultations, including detailed history-taking, physical examinations, diagnosis, and management of illnesses in line with Ethiopian national guidelines, with emphasis on IMCI and maternal-child health.
Manage acute and chronic conditions, perform minor procedures (suturing, wound care, abscess drainage, etc), and stabilize critical patients for referrals.
Oversee treatment of co-infections in children with severe acute malnutrition, ensuring integration with outpatient and inpatient therapeutic feeding programs.
Prescribe medications rationally, monitor treatment responses, adjust therapies as needed, and ensure patient adherence to treatment plans.
Conduct obstetric and reproductive health consultations, including antenatal, postnatal, family planning, and emergency obstetric stabilization before referral.
Provide emergency clinical care, including management of trauma, shock, respiratory distress, seizures, and other life-threatening conditions.
Support Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) activities in clinics and outreach, including clinical evaluation of children for vaccine eligibility and management of adverse events following immunization (AEFI).
Supervise and mentor nurses, health officers, and CHWs on clinical skills, patient management, and adherence to protocols.
Ensure availability of essential medicines and medical supplies, contributing to forecasting and rational utilization.
Provide patient and caregiver education on disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and health-seeking behavior.
Compile, review, and submit weekly and monthly medical reports for MoH, UNHCR, and other partners.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices, ensuring safe clinical environment for staff and patients.
Safeguard program participants and staff by upholding PSEA, Child Protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
Participate in coordination meetings with partners and health authorities to strengthen integrated PHC service delivery.
Deliver integrated PHC services in the hard-to-reach woredas of Telemt, Beyeda, and East Telemt, overcoming operational challenges such as poor road access, limited facility coverage, supply shortages, and infrastructure constraints, with a focus on preventive, curative, and promotive health care.
Quality Management
Aiming to achieve the highest quality programming possible within the challenging context of East Telemt, Telemt and Beyeda woreda, northern Ethiopia
Ensure all patients are treated based on the Guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the IMCI guidelines
Ensure rational use of drugs such that only those essential for treatment are prescribed. Do not overprescribe.
Provide compassionate and respectful care to all patients who present to the clinic
Support other staff and colleagues to maintain good infection control practices to prevent spread of illnesses within the clinic and among the staff
Additional activities
Support other areas of the clinic as requested or needed to ensure efficiency and quality of care to all
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, disposing of waste and sharps appropriately.
Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding.
