Project: LINDA-FAMILIA - Implementation of an Integrated Digital Health System for Infectious Diseases in Maternal and Child Health in East Africa
Duration: 4 years
Reports to: Project Manager, PhD fellows, PIs
Overview:
The LINDA-FAMILIA project aims to enhance maternal and child health services through the implementation of a digital health information management system. The Research Assistants will support the project’s research activities, including data collection, analysis, and capacity-building initiatives.
Data Collection:
Assist in the design and implementation of data collection tools and methodologies, ensuring adherence to project protocols.
Conduct field visits to healthcare facilities to gather quantitative data on maternal and child health services.
Engage with healthcare providers and community members to collect feedback and insights related to the project.
Data Management:
Enter, clean, and manage data collected from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Conduct preliminary data analysis and assist in preparing data for reporting and evaluation.
Literature Review:
Conduct literature reviews to support the development of project materials, including training modules and research reports.
Summarize findings and provide insights that inform project strategies and methodologies.
Support Capacity Building:
Assist in organizing and facilitating training workshops for healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
Develop training materials and resources to enhance the understanding of digital health systems and data management practices.
Reporting:
Contribute to the preparation of project reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.
Maintain accurate records of project activities and progress, ensuring timely updates are provided to the Project Manager.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the project team, including the Project Manager and other researchers, to ensure effective communication and coordination of activities.
Participate in project meetings, providing input and sharing updates on research activities.
Ethical Compliance:
Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and standards for research involving human subjects.
Assist in obtaining informed consent from participants as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree in MD, Midwife, Nursing, Public Health, and Epidemiology.
Experience:
Previous experience 8 years in research, particularly in health-related projects, is preferred.
Familiarity with data collection methods, data entry, and analysis software (e.g., R, STATA, or Excel).
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Amharic or other local languages is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
Preferred Attributes:
Knowledge of maternal and child health issues in Ethiopia.
Experience working in community health or with local health authorities is advantageous.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
