Project: LINDA-FAMILIA - Implementation of an Integrated Digital Health System for Infectious Diseases in Maternal and Child Health in East Africa

Duration: 4 years

Reports to: country Project PI (EPHI)

The LINDA-FAMILIA project aims to implement a comprehensive digital health information management system to enhance maternal and child health services across Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful coordination and execution of project activities in Ethiopia, ensuring alignment with project goals and compliance with funding and project requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination:

    • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, outlining timelines, deliverables, and responsible parties.

    • Coordinate project activities across various stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations.

    • Organize and lead regular project meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

  2. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, local health authorities such as Addis Ababa health bureau and other, and community leaders.

    • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote project objectives and gather feedback.

    • Represent the project at conferences, workshops, and other public events to enhance visibility and support.

  3. Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Implement and assist monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project progress against objectives and KPIs.

    • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports to the Project PIs and funding bodies as required, including financial reports.

    • Ensure documentation of lessons learned and best practices for future projects.

  4. Budget Management:

    • Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with project goals and funding guidelines.

    • Monitor budget utilization and prepare financial reports to track expenditures and variances.

  5. Team Leadership:

    • Supervise and mentor project staff, including research assistants and IT personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.

    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging professional development and capacity building.

  6. Capacity Building:

    • Identify training needs for healthcare professionals and stakeholders involved in the project.

    • Organize and facilitate training workshops, seminars, and other capacity-building initiatives to enhance skills related to digital health systems.

  7. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks to project implementation and develop mitigation strategies.

    • Regularly review and update risk assessments, ensuring that all team members are aware of potential challenges.

  8. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure that project activities adhere to ethical standards, quality control measures, and relevant guidelines.

    • Conduct regular audits and evaluations to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of project implementation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Master’s degree in Project Management, Public Health, Health, Health Service management. A PhD is a plus.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 8  years of progressive experience in project management, particularly in health-related projects within Ethiopia.

    • Proven experience in managing digital health initiatives or health information systems is highly desirable.

    • Experience working with government agencies and local stakeholders in Ethiopia.

  • Skills:

    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Amharic or other local languages is highly advantageous.

    • Proficient in project management software and data analysis tools.

    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Knowledge of current maternal and child health issues, policies, and practices in Ethiopia.

  • Familiarity with the Ethiopian health system, including health information management and digital health strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
