Cost Accountant – Steel Manufacturing

We are seeking a skilled and detail-driven Cost Accountant to join our finance team in the steel production industry. The role focuses on monitoring production costs, improving efficiency, and supporting strategic financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.

• Monitor and audit inventory cycles (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) through regular physical counts and system reconciliation.

• Calculate standard costs and analyze variances to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for cost savings.

• Prepare detailed cost analyses for new and existing products.

• Collaborate with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to understand operational processes and validate cost data.

• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).

• Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Develop and maintain robust cost accounting procedures and internal controls.

• Provide data to support pricing strategies and capital investment decisions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (steel, metal fabrication, or heavy industry is a significant plus!).

• Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.

• A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a passion for process improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Accounting & Finance, or related field.

• Proven experience in cost accounting within manufacturing (preferably steel or heavy industry).

• Strong knowledge of production cost cycles and inventory control.

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.

• Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong problem-solving ability.
