Job Description

ABYS Trading PLC is the leading Manufacturing Company of Ethiopia which manufactures agriculture products both for local and international markets. It has been active since 2011 and exported over 40 high quality value added agricultural products which meet world relevant standards to three main destination countries such as America, Canada and Australia and other locations. Moreover, it has distributed such products to local market. Nowadays, in line with government trade, marketing and development strategies, it strives to produce world class products of having high demand. This effort has allowed it to generate foreign currency and create job opportunity for 600 Ethiopian youths. Now it is seeking a qualified Purchase Officer, who is going to be a game changer in the purchase activities. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Vendor sourcing and evaluation: Researching and identifying potential suppliers, assessing their reliability, quality, and pricing to find the best fit for the company's needs. 

• Contract negotiation: Negotiating purchase terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and payment conditions with vendors to achieve the most cost-effective deals. 

• Purchase order creation: Preparing and issuing purchase orders to suppliers, detailing the required items, quantities, and delivery deadlines. 

• Inventory management: Monitoring stock levels, forecasting demand, and ensuring adequate inventory is maintained to meet operational needs. 

• Quality control: Inspecting received goods to verify quality standards and address any discrepancies with suppliers. 

• Market research: Staying updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new  suppliers to identify potential cost savings opportunities. 

• Cost analysis: Tracking and analyzing procurement costs to identify areas for optimization and cost reduction. 

• Supplier relationship management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key vendors to ensure smooth procurement processes. 

• Reporting and analysis: Generating reports on procurement activities, including spending trends, supplier performance, and cost savings achieved. 

• Negotiation skills: Excellent ability to negotiate favorable terms and prices with suppliers 

• Analytical skills: Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals, analyze cost data, and make informed purchasing decisions 

• Communication skills: Effective communication to interact with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and other departments 

• Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple purchase orders, track deliveries, and maintain detailed records 

• Market knowledge: Understanding of industry trends, product availability, and pricing dynamics 

• Procurement software proficiency: Familiarity with purchasing systems and software to manage the procurement process efficiently

Job Requirements

● Bachelor degree preferably in Logistic and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accountancy and Finance

● 3 years’ experience in a Purchasing role, including data entry

● Excellent in verbal and written English and Amharic communication skills

● Experienced with MS Office including Word, Excel, ERP and telegram, email
