Job Description
The Head of Research and Business Development will lead Awash Capital’s research and strategy functions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality market insights and the development of innovative business opportunities. This role is central to shaping the company’s strategic direction through evidence-based research and fostering growth by identifying and executing new business initiatives.
Lead the development and execution of the company’s research strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market realities
Oversee the production of macroeconomic, sectoral, and financial research reports to inform investment decisions and policy formulation
Monitor local and international market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to support proactive decision-making
Produce high-quality research outputs such as reports, market outlooks, and forecasts.
Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and product innovations that enhance the company’s market position
Guide the design and implementation of business development plans, including client acquisition and stakeholder engagement
Supervise and mentor research and business development teams, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and strategic thinking
Present research findings and business proposals to senior management, board members, and external stakeholders
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and investment products.
Provide data-driven recommendations to senior management and the Board.
Mentor and supervise research and business development staff.
Represent Awash Capital at industry events, conferences, and client forums.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CISI Introduction to Investment (Level 3) qualification) is a plus.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a leadership role
Experience in financial services is an advantage.
Proven experience in financial research, business strategy, and stakeholder engagement
Adequate knowledge and understanding of the Ethiopian financial market, investment products, trading, investment principles, event planning and management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic (Additional local language is a plus)
