The Education Production (EdPro) Center is part of Shayashone’s growing commitment to advancing digital education in Ethiopia. Established within the ICT Park, the center was created to strengthen the development of high-quality digital resources that support both teaching and learning across different levels of education. With collaboration, innovation, and accessibility at its core, the center seeks to transform the future of education in Ethiopia and beyond.
Once fully established, the EdPro Center will specialize in producing high-quality educational content that supports online teaching and the development of localized as well as globally relevant digital courses. Alongside this, it plans to provide training and development in multimedia, instructional design, professional skills, and life skills for diverse groups of learners and educators. The center also envisions supplying advanced educational technologies, including devices, multimedia studios, satellite learning centers, and virtual learning tools. In addition, its research and consultancy services will focus on policy studies, sector analyses, accreditation support, and institutional advisory services, positioning the center as a forward-looking partner in the education sector.
The System Administrator will be a key person responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of the center’s IT infrastructure and digital platforms. The role oversees the deployment and smooth functioning of servers, networks, and learning management systems, guaranteeing that high-quality educational content is delivered effectively to diverse learners. Beyond day-to-day operations, the System Administrator drives innovation by leading the acquisition, customization and upgrading of systems in line with emerging EdTech trends.
He/She also manages databases and applications, safeguards information through rigorous cybersecurity protocols, and ensures that platforms remain accessible and inclusive. As a central point of technical leadership, the System Administrator provides user support, and develops training resources. The position also plays a critical role in business continuity by establishing recovery systems, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and analyzing system usage to guide future improvements. He/SHE not only manages technology but also shapes the digital backbone of the EdPro Center, ensuring it remains secure, efficient, and at the forefront of educational innovation.
System & Network Administration:
Customize, install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and system software across the EdPro Center.
Ensure smooth deployment of digital content on the platform/LMS
Monitor system performance, uptime, and usage to resolve potential bottlenecks proactively.
lead the acquisition of new systems and upgrade systems per new edtech trends
Database & Application Management:
Administer organizational databases, ensuring security, availability, and accuracy of stored data.
Support the development and integration of applications such as LMS platforms and ERP systems.
Manage user roles, access rights, and authentication systems.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
Implement and enforce cybersecurity protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability testing, and patch management.
Respond promptly to security breaches and lead remediation efforts.
User Support & Training:
Manage access, accounts, and permissions
Ensure content delivery systems are accessible to diverse learners (screen readers, captions, bandwidth adaptation)
Provide technical support to staff and stakeholders for system-related issues.
Develop user guides, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing resources.
Train junior IT staff in system maintenance and security best practices.
Business Continuity & Documentation:
Establish disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, and incident responses.
Analyze usage trends and learners' preferences using system analytics tools
Provide periodic reports on system health, risks, and updates.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in system administration and IT security.
