Purpose of the Role
The Senior Customer Service Officer will be responsible to execute operational activities during importation & exportation of primarily ocean shipments including cross-border transportation service & local operations by properly utilizing operation management system (OMS) & transport management systems (TMS), effectively advising updated status of shipment by major milestones of operational activities to the customer; and to communicate with & follow up sea port agent & transporters to ensure the delivery of shipment with a minimum lead time, required document and acceptable safety & security standards. The post holder is required to perform jobs independently with an end-to-end responsibility & little guidance.
Receive & check the fulfillment of import & export documentations requirements as per the logistics needs of the customers,
Open and close operation jobs in company’s Operation Management System & Transportation Management System (TMS),
Plans and executes delivery requests from internal and external stakeholders,
Follow up the transportation & customs clearance processes by using Transportation Management System (TMS),
Ensures timely filing and documentation of all operational documents,
Communicates with transport procurement teams regarding operational requirements,
Executes timely billing activities for delivered shipments & assigned account,
Assume responsibility of assigned customer account in ocean product by further assuming responsibility of cost and revenue management of assigned account,
Provides operational and financial reports pertaining assigned account,
Provide support to inside & outside sales teams in bid/ tender processing stage & participate in solution design stage as required,
Build & maintain strong relationships with vendors like port agent, transporters, & other entities involved in the provisioning of logistics services,
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth management of operations
Produce shipment status, customer service progress, customer service performance reports on a daily, weekly & monthly basis by using operation management system & transport management systems,

Qualifications & Experience
Education: BA Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Management, or related business fields.
Experience: 5 years & above in customer service/ operations roles in a freight forwarding company.
Specialist Knowledge:
Profound knowledge of international logistics & Ethiopia’s freight forwarding & customs clearance processes,
Excellent ability in handling operational activities of ocean import & export shipments,
Skills & Competencies
Customer Management Skills,
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities,
Reporting & analysis,
Excellent oral & written communication in English,
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, &
High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through under time pressure.
