Job Description

This role is focused on the unique mental health needs of older adults, providing specialized assessment and treatment for age-related psychological disorders, cognitive changes, and late-life challenges.

Working Arrangement: Part-Time

Required Number: 1

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct specialized assessments for mental health conditions in older adults, including late-life depression, anxiety, grief, and issues related to chronic medical conditions.

  • Provide differential diagnosis between mental health disorders and cognitive decline.

  • Develop treatment plans tailored to the geriatric population, including psychotherapy techniques adapted for older adults, and medication management (Psychiatrist only).

  • Consult with family caregivers and long-term care facilities to provide holistic care.

  • Address end-of-life issues, life review, and adjustment to major life transitions.

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications:

  • Psychiatrist: Medical degree (MD/DO) with residency in Psychiatry and specific experience or fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry. Current and unrestricted license to practice and prescribe in Ethiopia. Minimum of 2 years of post-fellowship/post-residency clinical experience is required.

  • Psychologist: Doctoral degree or Master’s in Clinical Psychology with specialization or extensive experience in Geropsychology. Current and unrestricted license to practice in Ethiopia. Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience is required.

  • Deep understanding of age-related neurological and physical health changes and their impact on mental wellness.
