Job Description

Job Purpose: The purpose of this role is to implement, monitor field level project activities in collaboration with district level stakeholders. Besides, the community worker/s is/are expected to facilitate project interventions at district level aiming at improving the resilience capacity of the community through organizing and improving the capacity of communities for effective natural rehabilitation in the project operational areas using FMNR techniques.

  • Facilitate and undertake integrated project implementation within the project area to ensure outputs are reached on time and within budget

  • Mobilise and create awareness on area closure, FMNR, Climate change and its impacts etc. the community with concerned government line departments to increasing the sense ownership commitment and lay good ground for sustainability of the project

  • Mobilise and create awareness to the community-on-community based organisation, the cooperatives and increase registration of the community to membership of cooperatives,

  • Ensure the closed area is protected as required and all required forest management activities like thinning, pruning, copping reduction, fire break construction and maintenance, live fencing, seedling raising, pitting, and planting are facilitated timely, as per the required quantity quality, time and carried out as planned,

  • Mobilise & create awareness within the beneficiary community members and ensure voluntary participation on different activities like different forest management activities, pitting, planting, weeding & cultivation of seedlings, so that sense of ownership is developed properly,

  • Ensure smooth relationship between members of the cooperatives so that to increase social cohesion,

  • Asses potentials resources that can be source of income within the project implementation area/respective Kebele, to help diversify income of the community members, ensure proper planning and implementation for the same,

  • Participate in proper screening/selection of beneficiary members during different training’s, workshops, and inputs distribution,

  • Follow up and monitor if the training’s and inputs are properly addressed and used for the intended purpose and as per the aspired objective,

  • Ensure timely repayment of different inputs distributed and loan access created by the cooperatives,

  • Follow up, monitor and provide all the necessary support together with the GO line offices if the financial transaction, documentation and others are in line with GO and WVE policies

  • Ensure cooperative members abide their bylaws, internal laws, signed MOU and Emission Reduction purchase agreement and others,

  • Facilitate and participate on different monitoring carried out within the project,

  • Collect all necessary data of the project in the respective Kebele compile and submit timely and required quality,

  • Prepare all necessary reports timely and as per the required quality,

  • Attend, participate and provide all necessary technical guide on different cooperatives meetings

  • Work all additional assignments provided by the project timely and required quality,

  • Coordinate and arrange the annual Steering Committee meetings and the annual Technical Working Group (TWG) forums

  • Lead the quarterly regional-based Committee meetings to discuss work-plans, progress, and next steps

  • Coordinate the preparation of an annual work-plan and report by Consortium members to present at the annual Steering Committee meeting

  • Promote and encourage a collaborative and respectful working culture between members of the Consortium through the use of well-balanced coordination skills

  • Engage with and provide technical guidance to cooperatives members and leaders and GO line department staffs in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of plans for project interventions in the project operation areas/respective Kebele administrations

  • Participate in collection of data from field, and ensure that data-collection protocols are fully adhered to and submit timely,

  • Facilitate and engage the community and stakeholders in participatory assessments to identify potentials, problems and development opportunities of project interventions

  • Facilitate capacity building training (skills training on seed collection & drying, marketing, contribution to soil fertility improvement, production & profitability

  • Work closely with project coordinator and staff in assessment and identification of appropriate technologies, and engage in promoting and dissemination of the same

  • Network with relevant government offices, FBO and CBO in the project area to expedite project implementation and facilitate experience sharing within and outside the Kebele

Job Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Completed TVET school/BSc. Degree in NRM, Forestry, Community development and related

  • Technical Training qualifications required: Natural resource management, Forestry, Agro-forestry, cooperatives development

Required Professional Experience

  • 2 years and above especially in Natural resource management, forestry, or agro-forestry; rural development

  • Computer literate (Operate MS Word and MS Excel)

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Good reporting skill

  • Knowledge of local language is advantageous
