Job Position: Procurement Officer (Red Fox / Dümmen Orange Ethiopia PLC)

Dümmen Orange is an internationally leading breeding company focused on cut flowers, bulbs, tropical plants, pot plants, bedding plants, and perennials firm with a significant presence in Ethiopia for over 22 years. The company is based in Koka, employs over 1500 staff, and has plans to grow further. For our Procurement and Supply Department based in Ethiopia, we are looking for an experienced Procurement Officer.

Our Procurement and Supply Department in Ethiopia is responsible for all Procurement and supply-related tasks of our location, Red Fox Ethiopia PLC.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Procurement and Supply Manager, the Assistant Procurement Manager he/she is Responsible for all purchasing activities of the company. The role includes the following specifics:

  • Collect preform invoices for the purchase of goods following receipt of an approved purchase requisition from an authorized person.

  • Before filling the price of items on the shopping list, ask the actual price from shops rather than estimation.

  • If the purchase is above 5,000, three proforma should be collected for the requested item/good. Buy from VAT-registered shops.

  • Always checks the unit of measurement from the Store, Procurement & Stock Head or the one who requests the item.

  • Continuously attempt to find a reasonable price for domestic procurement

  • Arrange the transport of purchased items for timely delivery at the farm

  • As much as possible, attempt to use company care for transporting purchased items to the farm, without compromising timely delivery and the safety of goods

  • Make sure that shipments have arrived by contacting the storekeeper or the person to whom the items are sent

  • Inform Finance if the price has inflated between the time of the shopping form approval and the shopping itself.

  • Check the receipts for having RFE name, VAT no, and Tin No.

  • Check the arithmetic calculation of the receipt.

  • During the purchase of technical items, collect sample items to minimize unnecessary purchases.

  • Arrange transport service or personally take care, depending on the case, for guests arriving from abroad. Double-check the arrival time of guests well ahead of time.

  • In collaboration with the responsible person, arrange hotel accommodation for guests if necessary

  • Maintain a detailed profile of  suppliers of different  items with their respective physical address, telephone number, contact  person etc

  • Distribute letters, payments, documents etc as may be required

  • In consultation with the Procurement & Stock Head, provide support for import/export activities during high work pressure in Addis office.

  • Responsible for payment of utility bills such as water, electricity, telephone, internet, etc.

  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Procurement & Stock Head.

Job Requirements

  • BA in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Accounting & Finance, Management, Business Administration,  or related field Good interpersonal skills

  • Dedicated and willing to work under stressful conditions.

  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.

  • Computer and Ms Office application skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint Point and Outlook). 

  • Preferred work experience in the Horticulture/Floriculture sector

  • Skills in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.

  • People management skills 

  • Pro-active and a team player

  • Strong knowledge of national tax law and other laws related to the task.
