We are seeking a skilled and experienced senior welder to join Kegna beverage

share company team. He/she is responsible for performing various welding tasks on metal components and machinery, ensuring high-quality welding task and attention to detail.  

Able to proposes new welding processes and possibly takes part in their development.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings, lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies using straight edge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.

• Provide Welding and Fabrication services using state of the art welding equipment such as TIG, MIG, arc weld and oxyacetylene welding equipment. 

• Weld small and large metal components, such as pipelines, rectangular bar, beams, flat metal and all other part as required for specific task.

• Operating welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and arc welders to join, fabricate, and repair metal components.

• Cut work pieces using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife

• Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.

•   Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

• Work with many types of metals, such as iron, carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.

• The welders will layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers.

• Proposes and carries out improvement actions, corrective/modification and/or preventive actions.

• Inspecting and testing welded surfaces and structures to ensure they meet the desired strength.

• Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, ear plug and safety shoes.

• Collaborating with other team members to complete projects within specified deadlines.

• Establishes and/or participates in the preparation of technical documents (Free hand sketch, design, draw the work piece).

• Perform all tasks in an efficient, safe, and productive manner.

• Ensure the stock number of consumable items of welding workshop, such as electrode, filler rod, grinding/cutting disc, argon gas and others.

• Propose the right material for specific task

• Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.

Reports to Garage & site facility team leader

Working area: Oromia region, western Shewa/Ginchi  

Job Requirements

• Education background: Certificate in general metal fabrication/ Advance diploma/Bsc. in Vocational or Technical School

• Work experience: 5/8years of relevant experience in welding and metal fabrication preferable in Food industry.

Additional skill:

• Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools 

• Familiar with kaizen/5S to organize the work place

• A strong understanding of metal technology 

• Strong skill of work-order execution 

• Extensive knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs

• A strong analytical skill

• Team player

• Ability to work under pressure with less supervision

• Familiar with TIG, MIG and arc welding machine working principle 

• Extensive knowledge of DT and NDT to ensure the strength of welded joint.

• Ability to perform argon gas purging during welding for food contact pipeline/surface

• Strong understanding of different safe working permit, such as Hot work, work at height, electrical work and other.
