The Company is engaged in the production of Nutritious products for the prevention & treatment of different forms of malnutrition in children & adults under a franchise agreement from the French company, Nutriset. Hilina Enriched Foods PLC would like to hire a dedicated and talented Business Development Manager.

Position: Business Development Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Job Specification: Business Development Manager – Food & FMCG Industry

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Development Manager to lead market research, product development coordination, and business growth initiatives within the food and FMCG industry.
This role will be central to identifying market opportunities, launching new products, and shaping long-term commercial strategies aligned with the company’s mission to provide high-quality, nutritious, and accessible food products.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Market Research & Analysis

Conduct in-depth research on the FMCG and food industry, including consumer trends, category dynamics, competitor strategies, and regulatory factors.

Identify emerging market and channel opportunities, such as modern trade, general trade, and institutional markets.

Analyze pricing, packaging, and promotional trends in local and regional FMCG markets.

Prepare actionable market intelligence reports and business cases to support executive decision-making.

  1. Product Development Coordination

Work closely with R&D, production, and marketing teams to guide product development from concept to commercialization.

Translate market and consumer insights into product briefs that define features, positioning, and pricing.

Ensure that packaging, branding, and pricing align with FMCG market expectations and consumer behavior.

Monitor project timelines and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure quality and on-time launches.

  1. Go-to-Market (GTM) & Business Development Strategy

Design and implement GTM strategies for new and existing food and FMCG products.

Define commercial objectives, trade promotions, and pricing strategies to drive volume and profitability.

Develop and manage key distributor and retail partnerships across different trade channels.

Evaluate business performance metrics (e.g., sales growth, market share, ROI) and adjust strategies to optimize results.

  1. Channel & Partnership Development

Expand distribution across FMCG sales channels, including supermarkets, wholesalers, informal markets and institutional buyers.

Negotiate agreements with distributors and potential co-manufacturers.

Identify and cultivate strategic alliances for market expansion or co-branding opportunities.

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with marketing, production, and supply chain teams to align product availability, promotions, and market campaigns.

Provide input on demand forecasting and inventory management based on market insights.

Contribute to brand-building initiatives to strengthen the company’s presence in the FMCG sector.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in business development, marketing, or strategy, preferably in the FMCG or food manufacturing industry.

Proven experience in product launches, trade marketing, and brand management.

Strong understanding of FMCG distribution models, retail environments, and consumer behavior.

Demonstrated success in growing market share and developing commercial strategies.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in data analysis tools, market research techniques, and CRM systems.

Familiarity with ERP systems, budgeting, and sales reporting.

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for business presentations.

Key Competencies

Strong commercial and strategic thinking, particularly within FMCG categories.

Excellent market insight and analytical ability.

Proven skills in trade and channel development.

Leadership in cross-functional project management.

Strong negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
