Job Description

Our partner, Alliance Microfinance institution SC is a newly established MFI in Ethiopia  aimed to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of un banked people through accessing digital led financial services. Currently Alliance Microfinance institution would like to hire the following urgent positions in permanent basis.

The Finance and Accounts Division Manager is responsible to assist and advise the Finance and Administration Department Manager in designing and maintaining effective financial and accounting systems in the institution.  Also, he/she assists same in the budgeting process, maintenance of appropriate accounting records and preparation of financial reports to the different stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Finance and administration Department Director in planning, organizing directing, controlling financial management processes and accounting systems of the Institution.

  • Ensures that all transactions are properly backed up by adequate source documents; expenses are within approved budget and are approved by duly authorized person(s).

  • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements, financial ratio and trend analysis using the core banking system.

  • Conducts financial analysis on the financial performance of the Institution and recommend desired course of action.

  • Administers inter branch transfer of funds and maintains appropriate records in the core banking system.

  • Ensure that digital financing solutions are functioning properly and effectively

  • Provides technical backup to branches for undertaking effective and efficient financial management of the Institution.

  • Ensures that fixed asset registries are properly maintained, staff provident funds are current, advances and payables are settled on time.

  • Ensures that all required adjusting entries are passed in the books of account before closing and documents are readily available for timely auditing.

  • Ensures that bank reconciliations are performed very timely. 

  • Ensures that tax obligations are met timely and properly. 

  • Handles any other related duties given by the Finance & Accounts Department Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BA/MA in Accounting or related fields

  • Experience: 8/6 years of relevant experience out of which minimum of      2 years of  experience in managerial and senior positions      preferably in microfinance Sector

  • Special Training: MS Office 

Competencies:

  • Proven working experience as Finance Manager  and senior Finance officer preferably in MFIs

  • Proficiency in financial management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Proven understanding of  Core Banking system Implementation

  • Practical experience  in financial report preparation and familiar with IFRS 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.t
