Job Description
Our partner, Alliance Microfinance institution SC is a newly established MFI in Ethiopia aimed to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of un banked people through accessing digital led financial services. Currently Alliance Microfinance institution would like to hire the following urgent positions in permanent basis.
The Operations Department director is responsible to Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise the overall operations of the department. He /she Ensures the provisions of efficient micro-financing services, guides and assists Branch Offices operations. He/ she also make the necessary contact within and outside the Institution in order to ensure the proper coordination of functions. He/ she ensures the proper implementation of operational policy, regulations and procedures of the Institution.
Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and supervises the overall operations of the institution.
Ensures the periodical targets are set for Credit and Saving Operation.
Ensures the soundness of Credit and Saving Operations.
To establish and regularly update a set of saving mobilization strategies and tactics, with the goal to expand lending operations and benefit borrowers.
Updates checklist on regulatory & MFI Policy Compliance to be used by branch managers and frontline staff and ensure the implementation of the same with zero rate of incompliance.
Identifies gaps and propose trainings in coordination with concerned departments to capacitate and support branches to become efficient in operation and customer handling.
Initiates and prepares operational directives and guidelines governing credit and collection services at branch offices and on approval follows-up the proper implementation of same.
Proposes policies and procedures and recommend revision based on field visit findings, competitors’ analysis, audit recommendations and client exit and satisfaction survey conducted in coordination with marketing and business development service.
Develops growth and expansion strategies.
Studies, proposes and when approved applies more cost effective, productive and efficient methods of operation.
Undertakes continues and periodical evaluation of performance against the plan and take appropriate action accordingly.
Advises management on the opening of branch offices and facilitates the establishment of new branch offices.
Ensures the provision of proper guidance, coaching, technical support and information to all Branch Offices.
Directs and monitors portfolio quality and liquidity positions of Branch Offices.
Ensures the provision of efficient loan approval, disbursement services to clients.
Reviews operational manuals, guidelines and formats etc. and suggests possible improvements on it.
Reviews approvals, follow-up reports, studies etc. and instructs for adjustments as deemed necessary.
Gives management response to audit findings and take corrective action on acceptable recommendations
Ensures that clients and concerned functional units and organs of the Institution are duly informed of any changes in policy, directives working procedure etc. of the institution.
Makes the necessary contact within and outside the Institution in order to ensure the proper coordination of operations.
Prepares and submits annual budgets, work program and periodic activity report of the department.
Participates in the preparation and consolidation of the institution budget.
Evaluates the performance of subordinate staff, and makes report there on.
Ensures the proper management of records in the company and its branches.
Performs other similar duties as may be assigned by the CEO.
Education: BA/MBA/MA in Accounting, Economics, management or related fields
Experience: 10/8 years of experience out of which minimum of 3 years of managerial experience on similar position preferably in microfinance Sector
Special Training: MS Office
Competencies:
Proven working experience as Operation Manager of MFIs
Strong leadership capabilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong negotiation skills and time-management.
Strategic thinking & understanding of Modern operations management
