The Managing Director (MD) is the chief executive leader of the company, holding ultimate responsibility for its strategic direction, financial health, operational performance, and cultural development. This role provides direct executive oversight to all departments, including the critical functions of business development, proposal management, and project execution led by the Senior Proposal & Project Engineer. The MD is accountable for driving profitability, expanding market share, ensuring client satisfaction, and building a high-performing team capable of achieving the company's ambitious goals.
A. Strategic Leadership & Vision
Develop and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan in alignment with the vision set by the Board of Directors/Shareholders.
Identify new market opportunities, service lines, and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable growth.
Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and economic conditions to adapt strategies proactively.
Represent the company as the primary figurehead in industry associations, client meetings, and public forums.
B. Financial Performance & P&L Management
Hold full Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for the entire company.
Develop the annual budget and financial forecasts, presenting them to the Board for approval.
Implement robust financial controls and reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely financial management.
Drive revenue growth and profitability by optimizing resource allocation, pricing strategies, and operational efficiency.
C. Business Development & Client Relations
Provide executive leadership and direction to the business development and marketing efforts.
Oversee the Tendering Process: Provide final review and approval for major proposals and bids, ensuring they align with strategic goals and acceptable risk profiles.
Cultivate and maintain top-level relationships with key clients, strategic partners, and major stakeholders.
Ultimately responsible for the company's pipeline and securing a steady stream of profitable projects.
D. Operational Excellence & Project Delivery
Provide executive oversight to all project operations, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Support Project Governance: Mentor and guide senior project staff, including the Senior Proposal & Project Engineer, on complex contractual, technical, or client issues.
Implement and champion company-wide standards, processes, and systems for project management, contract administration, and document control.
Ensure risk management protocols are effectively identified, mitigated, and managed across all projects.
E. Organizational Leadership & Culture
Lead, mentor, and develop the senior leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
Oversee all human resource functions, including talent acquisition, career development, performance management, and compensation.
Champion the company's core values and promote a positive, inclusive, and safety-first work environment.
Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the business.

Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration is required.
A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree is highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the [relevant industry] sector, with at least 8-10 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., General Manager, Vice President, Director of Operations).
Proven track record of successfully leading a company or significant business unit with full P&L responsibility.
Demonstrated experience in all phases of the project lifecycle, from strategic business development and winning major proposals through to successful project execution and closeout.
Extensive experience in contract negotiation, risk management, and financial management at an enterprise level.
