Finance Manager
Department: Finance & Accounting
Report to: Managing Director
Location: 4th Floor Batha Complex, Addis Ababa – Ethiopia

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee and integrate our core accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and robust cash flow management.
The Finance Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the seamless integration and management of the company's general accounting, cash flow, budgeting, procurement, and revenue cycle functions. This individual will ensure the accuracy of financial records, safeguard company assets, optimize working capital, and provide critical data to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of accounting principles and a passion for process improvement.
A. General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Oversee the entire general ledger function, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, liaising with external auditors as necessary.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
B. Cash & Budget Management
Cash Flow Management: Develop and maintain detailed weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts. Monitor daily cash positions and manage banking relationships.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads. Prepare regular financial forecasts and variance analyses, reporting on deviations from the budget and recommending corrective actions.
Working Capital Optimization: Implement strategies to optimize working capital, focusing on inventory, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
C. Purchasing & Procurement
Oversee the company's purchasing function, ensuring a competitive and efficient procurement process for goods and services.
Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures to ensure cost-effectiveness and mitigate risk.
Manage key supplier relationships and negotiate favorable payment terms to support cash flow objectives.
Review and approve purchase orders and major procurement contracts in alignment with budgetary constraints.
D. Payment Collection (Accounts Receivable)
Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including customer invoicing, payment application, and collection activities.
Establish and monitor credit policies for new and existing customers.
Lead the collections efforts for past-due accounts, implementing effective escalation procedures when necessary.
Analyze aging reports and provide regular updates on the status of receivables and potential bad debt exposure.
E. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff (e.g., Accountants, AP/AR Clerks).
Identify and lead initiatives to automate and improve financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support operational decisions.

Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a professional certification (CPA - Certified Public Accountant, or CMA - Certified Management Accountant) is highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Proven experience managing the full spectrum of financial functions: general accounting, budgeting, cash flow, purchasing, and collections.
Experience in the construction and infrastructural services industry is a significant advantage.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Software Proficiency: High proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and create meaningful reports.
Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and lead a team effectively.
Process Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to developing and improving processes.
