Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Operations Manager to oversee, optimize, and manage our end-to-end supply chain and logistics activities. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, responsible for ensuring the smooth and cost-effective movement of goods from suppliers to customers. You will play a critical role in enhancing our operational procedures for maximum efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics & Supply Chain Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, order, and dispatch of goods.

  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and transporters.

  • Oversee all import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and Ethiopian customs law.

  • Track shipments and proactively resolve any logistical delays or issues.

  • Inventory & Warehouse Management:

  • Implement and manage inventory control systems to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.

  • Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, security, and organization of goods.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Analyze current operational processes and recommend improvements for cost reduction and efficiency gains.

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all key operational activities.

  • Team Leadership & Vendor Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the operations team.

  • Source, negotiate with, and manage performance of suppliers and service providers.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the operations department.

  • Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all company operations adhere to legal rules and guidelines, including trade compliance, safety standards, and tax regulations.

  • Manage the preparation and verification of essential documents (e.g., Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Commercial Invoice, Packing List).

Job Requirement

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in an operations management role, specifically within the import/export or international trading sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of shipping, logistics, customs clearance procedures, and international trade documentation (Incoterms).

  • Strong experience with inventory management systems and software.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and developing a team.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent Negotiation & Communication Skills in English and Amharic/or Afan Oromo if possible.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • High level of integrity and dependability.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word)
