The Cashier is responsible for handling financial transactions accurately and efficiently while delivering excellent customer service. This role involves processing payments, issuing receipts, managing cash, and maintaining records of all transactions. A Cashier also supports the overall operations of the establishment by ensuring a smooth and secure cash-handling process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Transaction Handling:

• Process customer payments via cash, credit/debit cards, checks, or other payment methods.

• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change as required.

• Ensure all transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

2. Cash Management:

• Count and verify the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.

• Maintain sufficient cash in the drawer while ensuring adherence to cash-handling policies.

• Safeguard cash, checks, and payment records to prevent loss or theft.

3. Customer Service:

• Greet customers warmly and provide assistance with payment-related queries.

• Address customer concerns or escalate issues to the supervisor when necessary.

• Ensure a pleasant and efficient checkout experience for all customers.

4. Record Keeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and daily cash reconciliations.

• Prepare and submit cash and transaction reports to the supervisor or finance department.

• Identify and report discrepancies in cash or transaction records promptly.

5. Sales Support:

• Assist customers with basic product or service inquiries.

• Promote discounts, offers, or membership programs to enhance customer satisfaction.

• Maintain a clean and organized cashier area to ensure operational efficiency.

6. Adherence to Policies:

• Follow all company policies and procedures related to cash handling, refunds, and fraud prevention.

• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements for financial transactions.

7. Inventory and Stock Management (Optional):

• Assist in monitoring inventory levels by recording sales data.

• Notify the relevant department about low-stock items when applicable.

Job Requirements

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Numerical Accuracy: Strong math skills to handle transactions, calculate change, and manage cash.

• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in processing transactions and maintaining records.

• Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash registers, and card processing machines.

Qualifications:

•  Diploma, BA in accounting & Finance or equivalent (required).

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years previous experience as Cashier in a customer-facing role in the automotive industry (preferred).

• Proficiency in operating POS systems and basic computer skills.

• Knowledge of basic accounting principles (advantageous).
