Duty Station: Arsi Siraro and Aje(Oromia), Janamora(Amhara), Tahtay Maychew and Abergelle Yechilla(Tigray), Megale(Afar),

Duration of Contract:  Temporary contract, 

Responsible to plan, implement, monitor, report, and generally be responsible for the effective implementation of FHE Emergency Nutrition Program in the area of Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E), and nutrition commodity management.

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 – Planning, Coordination and Implementation

  1. Plan, coordinate, and implement emergency nutrition interventions in collaboration with woreda health offices and health facilities.

  2. Support the delivery of lifesaving nutrition commodities (RUTF, RUSF, F75, F100) ensuring proper storage, handling, and utilization in compliance with national protocols and donor requirements.

  3. Facilitate the training of health workers on CMAM, IYCF-E, and nutrition commodities management.

  4. Coordinate with ENCU and relevant clusters at zonal, regional, and national levels to ensure harmonized response and alignment with government-led emergency nutrition efforts.

  5. Support woreda-level health teams in conducting supportive supervision and joint monitoring visits to assess service quality and compliance.

  6. Promote integration of preventive nutrition actions including IYCF-E messaging within CMAM service delivery points.

Key Result #2 – Monitoring, Reporting and Technical Support

  1. Monitor progress of nutrition interventions using key CMAM performance indicators (admissions, cure, default, and death rates) and take corrective action where necessary.

  2. Ensure timely collection and reporting of commodity utilization, stock levels, and program performance.

  3. Support preparation and submission of periodic progress reports to CRS and relevant government offices in line with agreed templates and schedules.

  4. Conduct post-distribution and supportive monitoring visits to health facilities to ensure quality service delivery and accountability.

  5. Contribute to assessment missions, data verification, and compilation of field findings to inform decision-making and reporting.

Key Result #3 – Capacity Building and Supervision

  1. Organize and facilitate on-the-job and refresher trainings for health workers and woreda nutrition focal persons on CMAM, IYCF-E, and supply management.

  2. Provide technical assistance to woreda and facility-level teams in strengthening commodity tracking, documentation, and reporting systems.

  3. Mentor facility staff to ensure appropriate case management, rational commodity use, and adherence to JEOP and national standards.

Key Result #4 – Coordination and Representation

  1. Represent FH at zonal and regional ENCU and Nutrition Cluster meetings, technical working groups, and JEOP coordination platforms.

  2. Facilitate communication and joint planning between FH, CRS, regional health bureaus, and other implementing partners.

  3. Support documentation of lessons learned and best practices to inform future emergency nutrition programming.

Job Requirements

Experience

⮚ Minimum 3 years of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in emergency settings.

⮚ Demonstrated experience with CMAM, IYCF-E, and nutrition commodity management (RUTF/RUSF/F75/F100).

⮚ Prior experience with JEOP or USAID Title II-funded programs preferred.

Education/Certifications

⮚ BSc in Public Health, Nursing, or Nutrition or related field.

Distinguishing Competencies

⮚ Strong understanding of Ethiopia's emergency nutrition guidelines and cluster coordination mechanisms.

⮚ Proactive and technically competent, with good problem-solving and team collaboration skills.

⮚ Willingness to travel frequently to field locations under challenging conditions.

⮚ Excellent communication, reporting, and data management skills.

Language

 ⮚ Proficiency in spoken and written English language.

⮚ Knowledge and communication in local language preferred 

Supervisory Responsibility

⮚ This position supervises Facility-level Staff positions.

Safety & Security Responsibility

⮚ Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;

⮚ Visiting project Offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;

⮚ Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures

⮚ Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;

⮚ Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;

⮚ Encourages staffs to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human resources.
