ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referenda, and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its institutional strength with a special focus on the enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for the Intern Position who meet the following requirements.

Required number: 16

Reports to: CVE Departments

Duty station: Afar, Somali, Dire Dawa, Benishangul, Tigray, Southwest Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia

Duration: 8 months

Salary: A Stipend to cover some costs

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is preparing for the 7th General Election, scheduled for May 2026. In this regard, NEBE is recruiting 150 interns who will work in collaboration with NEBE’s Civic and Voter Education Department, the Regional Branch Offices (RBOs), and university student volunteers previously trained by NEBE.

These interns will play an essential role in supporting civic and voter education, election preparedness activities, and voter outreach programs leading up to the election.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and delivering civic and voter education activities.

  • Support university student volunteers in outreach and training cascades.

  • Disseminate voter education materials to communities.

  • Provide logistical and administrative support during election preparation activities.

  • Document activities and submit regular reports to supervisors.

Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Civic Education, Adult Education, Political Science, or related Social Science fields.

  • No prior work experience required.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Amharic and the local language of the duty station.

  • Commitment to professionalism, civic duty, and electoral integrity.

  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region.
