Silk Road General Hospital is seeking experienced and dedicated General Practitioners to join our dynamic medical team. The ideal candidates will provide comprehensive and high-quality medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of various health conditions. They will work closely with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes and uphold the hospital’s commitment to excellence in healthcare service delivery

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. They will collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and contribute to the continuous improvement of services within the hospital. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient consultations to assess medical histories, symptoms, and health concerns.

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of medical conditions, both acute and chronic.

• Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.

• Provide emergency medical care and perform minor procedures when necessary.

• Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare professionals for advanced care.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using hospital information systems.

• Educate patients on disease prevention, health maintenance, and healthy lifestyle choices.

• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated care.

• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical meetings as required

• Who Has interest in assisting neurosurgical and gynecologic procedures

• Ensure compliance with medical ethics, hospital policies, and national healthcare regulations.

• Take part in continuous medical education (CME) and professional development activities.

• Support hospital outreach programs, immunization campaigns, and community health initiatives, if applicable.

• Provide primary and continuing medical care to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and record medical histories.

• Prescribe and administer appropriate treatments, medications, and therapies.

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work, imaging, and other investigations.

• Provide preventive care and health education to patients and families.

• Refer patients to specialists when necessary and coordinate care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient records.

• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate life-saving interventions.

• Participate in hospital meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and medical regulations.

Job Requirements

Minimum Specification Requirement

Educational Qualification & Work Experience

• Graduated from accredited  University /Medical college

• Professional license to practice medicine in Ethiopia, issued by the relevant regulatory body.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or health center setting.

Knowledge & Skill requirements

• Succeeded in National Competency Exit Exam (51% and above)

• In-depth knowledge of general medical principles, clinical procedures, and evidence-based practices.

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with sound clinical judgment.

• Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.

• Proficiency in patient examination, history taking, and medical documentation.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple cases efficiently.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick, accurate medical decisions.

• Familiarity with hospital information systems and basic computer skills.

• Commitment to patient-centered care, confidentiality, and professional ethics.

• Certificate on BLS and ACLS training. 

• Strong understanding of clinical guidelines, protocols, and evidence-based medicine.

• Proficiency in patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and management of common illnesses.

• Have good communication skill. 

• Have some computer skills. 

• The ability to offer emotional support to parents, guardians, and family members.

• The ability to work in a team.

• Language: Fluent in English (oral & written)
