Job Description

Job Purpose: The JEOP Early Warning Coordinator will work with each JEOP operational Early Warning Officers to ensure that all JEOP Districts submit early warning information into database, analyse data and produce regular (at least monthly) early warning updates to inform more timely and appropriate actions. And coordinate, facilitate and conduct capacity building for Early Warning Officers and partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Program/Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Coordinate and facilitate program/project activities, ensuring they align with the overall program/project objectives and donor requirements. 

  • Monitor program/project progress, identify challenges, and develop solutions to ensure timely and effective implementation. 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date program/project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant materials. 

  • Manage information system for regular, timely and reliable early warning data collection as well as collecting early warning information at different levels from Sectors as the primary source to community level

  • Responsible for JEOP operational area Early warning activities and ensure proper and timely collection, analysis and reporting of weekly early warning information

  • Coordinate and supervise food security monitoring, analyse data; produce quality and timely reports and disseminate the same for wider use

  • Ensure JEOP Early warning system is properly running and in timeframe data from JEOP operational Woredas are transferred

  • Plan, facilitate and conduct early warning capacity building workshops and trainings for WVE staff and other partners involved in early warning system

  • Provide technical assistance to Early Warning Officers on issues related to early warning including planning and implementation

  • Network with local, regional and national stakeholders for exchange of early warning information, rapid assessment information and other task forces

  • Properly Coordinate and manage targeting process based on national targeting guideline and; develop and review formats and guidelines for the collection and compilation of early warning information and ensure the documentation

  • Actively participated on JEOP early warning response annual PREP preparation 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines. 

  • Contribute to the development of new program/project proposals and fundraising efforts. 

  • Represent the organization at relevant meetings and events. 

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

Job Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

  • B.SC/MSC in Agricultural Development (Plant Science, Agronomy, Animal Science, Natural Resource, Agricultural extension, Agricultural Economics), Rural development, DRR, Food Security and any other related fields. But M.Sc. is preferable.

Required Professional Experience

  • 4-6 Years of experience

Required Language(s)

  • English and knowledge of local language is advantageous
