Position: Exploration Geologist

Location: Benishangul Gumuz Region, Gambella Region and any other place as we start new projects

Employment Type: One year contract with possible extension

As an Exploration Geologist at GSG Mining Plc, you will be at the forefront of discovering new

mineral resources. This dynamic role will see you conducting field studies, analyzing geological

data, and creating geological models and maps that will guide exploration activities. You will work

closely with the Senior Exploration Geologist to ensure that exploration initiatives are

successfully executed. Your expertise will be key in identifying target areas, potential resource

deposits and evaluating the economic feasibility

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Execute the company exploration program.

• Conduct fieldwork and surveys to collect geological, geophysical, geochemical data

and samples as per the company operational procedures, industry standard and best

practice.

• Conduct regional and detailed geological mapping, geochemical stream sediment,

heave mineral concentrate and soil sampling, logging, pitting, trenching and drilling

as necessary.

• Identify and generate target areas for follow up and detail exploration study.

• Analyze and interpret geological data to identify potential resource deposits, develop

geological models and maps using specialized software and tools.

• Interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to define exploration targets

and mineral resources.

• Prepare and present reports on geological findings on daily and weekly bases.

• Stay updated with the latest geological research and exploration techniques.

• Assure that appropriate company standards and procedures are followed during field

mapping, drilling, coring, sampling, packing, labeling & dispatching geological

samples.

• Ensure compliance with JORC and NI 43-101 reporting standards, industry best

practices, and national mining and other related laws and regulations.

• Implement and oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols,

including sampling procedures, assay data validation, duplicate sample analysis, and

database management.

• Supervise and mentor junior geologists and field staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and

professional development.• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in all exploration

activities.

• Perform other related functions as assigned by the Senior Exploration Geologists and

Exploration Manager.

• Willing to perform other geology tasks and participate in different projects as needed

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• BSc degree in Geology or related discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in gold and base metals exploration projects.

• Strong field experience in regional reconnaissance survey, grassroots exploration,

geochemical survey, geological mapping, and exploration techniques, sampling

methods, data collection, QAQC protocols, …etc, particularly in primary and placer

gold and base metals exploration.

• Proficiency in Remote sensing & GIS, geological modeling, exploration and database

software (e.g., ArcGIS, MapInfo\Discover, Leapfrog Geo/Edge, Surpac, Datamine …).

• Demonstrated experience in QA/QC implementation and database management.

• Capability to work in challenging and remote environments and to conduct field

operations effectively.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in the Greenstone belts and Precambrian rocks of Western Ethiopia and

foreign exploration company experience are a strong advantage.
