Job Description

The Junior Accountant provides essential financial, administrative, and executive support to ensure smooth office operations. The role combines accounting functions with reception and personal assistant duties, serving as the first point of contact for visitors while supporting management in documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.

Key Responsibilities

A. Accounting & Finance Support

  • Support daily cash management and assist with bank reconciliations.

  • Record and post bank and cash transactions accurately in the accounting system.

  • Prepare and process petty cash payments, payment vouchers, and receipts.

  • Maintain cash books, ledgers, and journals, ensuring transactions are properly documented.

  • Support VAT, withholding tax, and payroll tax filing processes.

  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all required documents are available.

  • Coordinate with the projects and operation teams to ensure cost accuracy and compliance.

B. Reception & Front Office Management

  • Welcome visitors and direct them to the appropriate staff.

  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and courier services professionally.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.

  • Keep an updated visitor log and manage front-desk correspondence.

C. Personal Assistant & Executive Support

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to management, including meeting and travel arrangements.

  • Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and prepare meeting minutes.

  • Draft and format official correspondence, reports, and presentations.

  • Handle confidential company information with discretion.

  • Follow up on pending management action items.

D. Office Administration & Coordination

  • Manage office supplies and ensure timely procurement and replenishment.

  • Coordinate maintenance, utilities, and service providers.

  • Support organization of meetings, events, and internal trainings.

  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation in coordination with HR.

  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of administrative and financial documents.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience in accounting, administration, and office management.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Basic knowledge of accounting software (ERP systems preferred).

    • Understanding of Ethiopian tax and accounting regulations.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  3. Timeliness of Reporting – Submission of monthly cash, bank, and expense reports within the agreed timeline.

  4. Customer & Visitor Satisfaction – positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders.

  5. Document Management Efficiency – All financial and administrative records are properly filed and retrievable within 24 hours of request.

  6. Support Responsiveness – Management and departmental support requests are completed within agreed timelines.
