Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making urban e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2025. The Electrical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical components of e-bikes. This role plays a key part in ensuring customer satisfaction through timely, high-quality service and contributes to the company’s mission of delivering reliable and safe mobility solutions. This role may include any other duties or responsibilities as assigned, based on evolving business needs. Flexibility and a proactive attitude are expected, especially in a dynamic and growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repair
Conduct electrical diagnostics on e-bikes using appropriate tools and methods
Troubleshoot and repair wiring, motors, controllers, batteries, and display units
Replace or repair electrical components such as throttles, sensors, lights, and connectors
Ensure all repairs meet quality and safety standards
Battery & Charging Systems
Test and replace faulty battery units
Diagnose charging issues and maintain charger performance
Maintain records of battery test results and replacement cycles
Preventive Maintenance
Perform regular inspections and electrical servicing of fleet bikes
Support scheduled maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns
Document service history and report recurring issues
Reporting & Documentation
Use CRM or internal tools to log all repairs, parts used, and time spent
Escalate complex or recurring issues to supervisors
Provide feedback on common issues for process or product improvement
Customer Interaction & Team Support
Occasionally assist in customer check-ins or explain technical issues
Collaborate with assembly, mechanical repair, and CX teams to ensure end-to-end resolution
Train junior staff or interns as needed
Implement 5S principles in the factory and more particularly in the repair & maintenance
Carry out additional tasks as instructed by supervisor
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
Level 4 and above in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in electrical diagnostics and repair (preferably with e-bikes or light electric vehicles)
Strong understanding of DC systems, battery management, and electric motor operations
Ability to read wiring diagrams and use electrical testing tools
Attention to detail, safety-conscious, and good problem-solving skills
Familiarity with basic reporting tools or CRMs is an added advantage
Preferred Skills:
Soldering and circuit repair
Experience with lithium-ion battery systems
Basic mechanical knowledge (for cross-support when needed)
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions:
Workshop and field-based (may be required to travel to customer locations occasionally)
Use of safety gear and PPE required
May include weekend or overtime work during peak service periods
