LonAdd HR Consultancy Plc (www.lonadd.com) is a Recruitment & Outsourcing Company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with branch offices in Dukem, Hawassa and Bahir Dar. We are looking to recruit a qualified candidate on behalf of our client.

Location - Afar and Somali Regions (respectively)

Contract Duration - Longer-Term (45 days over the 12-month project period)

The Prospect 2.0 project aims to build the leadership, civic engagement, and organizational capacity of adolescents and young people (ages 15–24) from both displaced (Refugees, IDPs) and host communities. We are seeking skilled Afar and Somali language professionals to provide essential translation and interpretation services to support training and community engagement activities for this youth population. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate communication and inclusive participation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation (oral) during youth workshops, training sessions, and community dialogues (English/Amharic ↔ Afar or Somali).

• Perform written translation of training materials, reports, community communications, and participant documents (e.g., feedback forms, group work outputs) into English.

• Ensure cultural sensitivity and fluency in relevant dialects when facilitating communication on youth engagement topics.

• Support trainers in the overall facilitation of sessions, especially when language assistance is critical.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Linguistics, Communication, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience providing professional translation and interpretation services, preferably within development or humanitarian programs.

• Language Proficiency: Native-level fluency in Afar or Somali and professional working proficiency in English and Amharic.

• Knowledge: Familiarity with the local context, dialects, and youth engagement topics in the Afar and Somali Regions (as applicable).
