Work Location: North Shewa, Amhara region, Ethiopia- DebreBirhan

Authorized to work in: Ethiopia (Eligible to work legally without work visa sponsorship)

Target Hiring Range: Local salary scale applies (Grade 4). Hiring range and benefits will be shared with applicants as part of the recruitment process.

Please note that this is a national position, and salary will be paid in local currency.

Target Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Duration:  Full-time, one-year contract with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Project Assistant is directly reports to the Project Officer, and Assists in planning and implementation of field activities, making qualitative and narrative reports and communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Accountability & Responsibilities:

  • Supports on planning and budgeting of field activities, preparing projectreports and presentations (20%)

  • Assists in assessing ongoing training needs, developing appropriate training curriculum and supporting re- sources (15%)

  • Conducts regular field visits to support project implementation and collects updates of lessons learned and best practices 

  • and reports on progress and challenges as they arise (35%)

  • Assists in organizing and conducting special events and play days and undertakes logistical arrangements for training workshops and events (15%)

  • Maintains project documents in a proper filing system both in hard and soft forms and monitors attendance

  • register and staff absence requests and updates staff annual leave plan and shares all project related activities and information of stakeholders with the Project Officer (15%)

2. Scope (geographical and/or functional), Impact and Autonomy

  • Supports project administration, logistical arrangement and financial management in project office and sites in North Shoa zone

3. Staff management support

  • Maintains staff files and records

4. Information requirement for decision-making

  • Gathers information on project implementation status and makes basic analysis and shares issues with the project officer that require immediate attention

5. Innovation and Improvements

  • Supports effective implementation of play-based and active learning methods and initiatives to promote psychosocial well-being.

6. Relationships & Communications: Internal / External:

  • The role requires communicating internally with staff in program, finance and logistics sections and externally with visitors, beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Teaching ,Social Science or related discipline.

  • Training certificates in Play Based Learning is advantageous

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years’ experience in similar position with NGO or government institutions on education preferably Education in Emergency/Foundational Learning

  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet.

  • Good in spoken and written English and Amharic languages

  • Effective report writing and analytical skills

LANGUAGES:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic

Additionally:

  • The role will require working in emergency response setting including in IDP camps.
