Integrated for Health and Development Organization (ISHDO) is an Ethiopian NGO with 28 years of experience in the development, health, and education sectors. With recent approval from the Federal ACSO, ISHDO has secured a two-year international grant to establish a cost-share clinic.
This new clinic will operate on a compassionate, medium-cost share model, dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality healthcare. Our approach empowers patients to be active partners in their health journey. We are now seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician.
The Medical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician works at the senior level and carries out varied and complicated diagnostic analyses, operates quality control, and verifies the results of the tests. He/ She provides technical know-how, troubleshoots the machinery, and runs basic lab tests. Experience in supervising the technicians and the laboratory aides and implementing SOPs, professional who carries out routine test work in the laboratory. He prepares the samples, operates simple instruments, and follows standardized methodologies in order to provide precise and accurate findings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Cost -share medium clinic laboratory
Accepting and handling patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, etc.).
Conduct routine laboratory procedures in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Urinalysis.
Operate and supervise routine maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, centrifuges, hematology analyzers).
Follow safety practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Verify patient test reports prior to reporting. Record and submit the test results
appropriately in the laboratory register or Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Manage quality control and quality assurance programs; interpret QC data.
Ensure regular calibration of lab equipment.
Trouble shoot and Repair equipment faults and set up, seek professional support for major maintenance.
Cost-Share and Resource Management
Monitor usage of laboratory supplies to reduce wastage and ensure continuous availability.
Prepare timely lab consumption reports and requests and Submit to ISHDO. Support planning and forecasting of clinic needs of lab supplies.
Collaborate with clinic team to ensure cost-effective service delivery aligned with the cost-sharing model.
Job Requirements
BSc in medical laboratory technology with 2-year experience or
diploma in medical laboratory technology with more than 3-year experience.
Valid lab professional license and registration to practice in Ethiopia.
Prior experience in a private or medium clinic is an asset
Strong work ethic and integrity, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Computer literacy (MS Office).
The position is clinic based in Addis Ababa.
Flexibility to work extended hours (weekends or evenings) as per clinic schedules and needs.
