  • Gerese Woreda, Gamo Zone, South Ethiopia

Duration of contract: Based on Ad-Hoc assignments 

Number of positions: 10 (Females)

Reports to: Research and KM lead (Evidence and Learning)

We are looking for 

Female Data collectors to support the research operation for different programs under the supervision of the Researcher who will be primarily responsible, for the overall research activities of PSI Ethiopia. PSI Ethiopia engages in data and evidence generation in different health areas and programs throughout the country. These insights that we generate are based on surveys and research that are conducted based on requirements and solicitations to inform programs or as part of impacting policy on the health areas. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Gather data across different levels and diverse projects, particularly in health-related areas.

  • Collect data on various levels and for a wide range of programs and health topics.

  • Actively participate in and successfully complete training for data collectors.

  • Engage in field testing of data collection tools before actual deployment.

  • Work in accordance with research protocols and ethical standards established for each study

Demonstrate humility and professionalism throughout all data collection activities.

Job Requirements

  • Must be female and have a BSc Degree in Health, social work, statistics or related fields, having an advanced degree is an advantage

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in data collection and research work

  • Certified experience of collecting DHS and other health related surveys is a plus

  • Experience of collecting data using digital platforms (like ODK, DHIS2, CommCare, Kobo Toolbox)

  • The data collector must be equipped with experience working on mobile based data collection platforms and programs. 

  • A proven ability to read enumeration area maps and collect area coordination

  • Experience in utilizing GIS technology to create maps and ensure accurate area coordination. Fluency in local area specific languages Ability to work with other team members, researchers, and organization Willingness to work in all survey areas

  • Knowledge of Afan Oromo and Gamo language
