Eur¡ka Yebego Adragot Dirigit (or ‘Eur¡ka’) is a local non-governmental organization (LNGO) registered with the Agency for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO).
We were one of the first CSOs to be founded by both Ethiopian and foreign nationals, most of whom were humanitarian aid workers.
We qualify as a women’s organization due to our high female representation at all levels (Board, management, and staffing).
We pursue any sustainable action aimed at the visible progress of children’s rights and well-being, through
projects seeking to prevent/alleviate poverty; increase households’ food security; enhance the health and nutrition of children, pregnant, and lactating women; expand family planning practices; empower mothers; improve access to quality education; protect persons
at risk; provide decent shelter and clothing; offer legal assistance and psychosocial counseling; engage in peacebuilding; strengthen local CSOs; and strengthen SGBV service provision, among others.
Eur¡ka strongly believes in collaboration and coordination with local and international organizations for better results.
One example of this is the Sew Mehon Alliance, established with N4ED IDS.
The Sew Mehon - Alliance of Ethiopian Local CSOs is a dynamic and inclusive consortium formed in 2023 to promote gender equality, peacebuilding, and
human rights through grassroots empowerment. The Alliance is composed of three founding member organizations Eurika, IDS and N4ED. Together, these
partners implement the “Joint Action to Promote Equality, Peace, and Healing in Ethiopia” project across six diverse regions Amhara, South Ethiopia, Harari,
Benishangul-Gumuz, Tigray, and Addis Ababa. They work through a democratic, rotating leadership model and uphold core values of neutrality, inclusiveness,
local ownership, and horizontal decision-making.
Through this project, the consortium empowers local civil society by identifying and supporting new and
emerging grassroots actors, enhancing their leadership and organizational capacity, and forming
a national network of selected community-based groups. Using innovative tools like comic books, inspirational storytelling, and digital campaigns, the Alliance also fosters positive social narratives and peacebuilding dialogue across Ethiopia. Finally, in three of the six regions, the consortium members will lead specific action to support SGBV survivors.
