Job Description

The Junior Know Your Customer (KYC) Officer is responsible for supporting the KYC and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) process to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF). The objective of this role is to assist in verifying customer identities, assessing risk levels, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all client information is properly reviewed and updated to prevent financial crimes and regulatory breaches. Lead and coordinate branches in KYC procedures and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • The major roles and responsibilities of the Senior Officer on the management of KYC activities are;

  • Supervise the KYC activities in relation to domestic and other banking services in Branches.

  • Ensure that the KYC activities in Branches KYC team are conducted as per the Bank's Policy and Procedure.

  • Ensure Unique Customer ID is assigned on banking system.

  • Approve/decline the deposit account opening within 5 working days without delay based on the fulfillment of the requirements of NBE directive and Bank's own policies and procedures.     

  • Check that the KYC activities are properly done in Branches 

  • Give the required support to Branches to properly undertake KYC activities.

  • Timely communicate Branches on changes and new developments of KYC within the Bank and across the industry that affects the Branch Operations.

  • Ensure that Unique Customer ID is assigned on core banking system (until National ID is introduced) for a customer his/her number accounts at the Bank level.

  • Ensure the prohibition of daily cash withdrawal above limit for Individual and Enterprise customer using his/her /its Unique ID is properly implemented and make sure it is as per regulatory limits of restriction given.

Job Requirements

  • B.A Degree in Accounting, Economics, Management or other Business-related fields with 1 year of work as a bank trainee.
