Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Farm Manager to support and coordinate day-to-day farm operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure efficient land preparation, planting, crop care, harvesting activities, and proper utilization of resources in line with agricultural standards and company policies.

The Assistant Farm Manager plays an essential role in overseeing the farm’s operational activities. The ideal candidate assists in planning, supervising, and monitoring field operations, crop production cycles, labor management, and overall farm performance. This role requires strong field-management skills, teamwork, good knowledge of rain-fed crop production, and the ability to ensure timely execution aligned with seasonal calendars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal crop production activities

  • Oversee land preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting according to rainfall patterns

  • Coordinate soil conservation, land management, and moisture retention practices

  • Monitor crop growth and implement appropriate agronomic practices

  • Supervise farm laborers and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

  • Maintain accurate farm records, including inputs, labor, yield estimates, and expenses

  • Assist in forecasting seasonal production and preparing performance reports

  • Support implementation of climate-smart and improved rain-fed farming methods

  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of farm tools and machinery

  • Coordinate resource allocation to maximize productivity and reduce wastage

  • Work closely with the Farm Manager to implement modern farming techniques and best practices

Job Requirements

  • BA/BSc in Agriculture, Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agribusiness, or a closely related field

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in farm operations or crop production

  • Strong understanding of agronomic practices, farm equipment, and crop management

  • Ability to plan and execute seasonal farming activities within tight agricultural calendars

  • Good leadership and supervision skills with the ability to coordinate field workers

  • Strong communication, planning, and reporting capabilities

  • Ability to work in rural field environments and manage multiple tasks

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an added advantage
