The Culture & Engagement Business Partner is responsible for facilitating and executing employee engagement and cultural initiatives in alignment with the Company’s strategy. This role leads the implementation of the employee listening strategy across various platforms, working closely with Brand, PR & Comms, and senior leaders to embed the Spirit of Safaricom Ethiopia. It coordinates and delivers internal engagement activities such as town halls, annual kick-off events, and content on the internal social media platform (Kignit). The role also leads and supports the employee value preposition initiatives and execution. Additionally, it introduces practical, globally inspired engagement practices to enhance the employee experience and foster a culture of inclusion and connection.
Partner with PR & Comms and Senior Leadership to drive and embed the Spirit of Safaricom Ethiopia across all BUs,
Support in define and drive initiatives/ ideas that incorporate the Safaricom Ethiopia Leadership Standards
Work with Safaricom Ethiopia HRBPs to cascade and localize employee listening strategies and bring to life initiatives that drive employee engagement across the business
Lead development, implementation, and assessment of strategies and programs to continuously improve engagement among employees contributing to a high performing organization linked to company values.
Manage and drive key engagement projects and initiatives critical to the business and ensuring these are executed as per plan and create the expected impact.
Lead and manage the internal annual organizational health survey and regular pulse survey implementation, along with action planning and goal setting, ensuring the leadership team has access to insights that inform positive change
Work with team to ensure all people leaders have clear action plans that drive employee engagement
Act as a Spirit Champion/Influencer for Safaricom Ethiopia
Act as link to bridge the communication gap between Leadership and employees-ensuring that feedback loop is both ways
Ensure there is clear action plans and internal communications calendar to drive engagement areas and hold Exco accountable
Be the point of contact for the Spirit and Inclusion team on data & reporting
Work with Exco and HR Leadership to define clear cultural transformation shifts and targets for the organization
Work with HR Leadership to ensure there is a clear project plan and stakeholder engagement plan to drive key HR Change initiatives
Initiate ideas to drive HR Key initiatives
Serve as Champion for driving customer experience initiative “Moments That Matter” for HR
Design and implement digital engagement strategies using tools like internal social media, collaboration platforms, and mobile apps to foster real-time connection and feedback across teams.
Develop and lead storytelling initiatives that highlight employee experiences, success stories, and cultural milestones to reinforce values and build emotional connection.
Benchmark and analyze engagement trends across the tech industry to continuously evolve internal practices and stay ahead of employee expectations.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Communications, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus) Social Sciences, Journalism, PR Marketing or equivalent
• 5-8 years' experience in in HR, employee engagement, or culture-related roles
• Fluent English and Amharic proficiency (essential),
• Proven experience in designing and executing engagement strategies within large or complex organizations
• Strong understanding of employee experience, change management, and organizational culture
• Familiarity with survey tools, data analysis, and translating insights into action
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
• Excellent facilitation skills.
• The capacity and desire to partner closely with Executive Leadership is critical. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, produce excellent work results, and follow through on commitments.
