The Pediatrician provides comprehensive medical care to infants and children, and support the restoration and strengthening of essential pediatric services; and contributes to improved health outcomes within the  Setit Humera hospital’s catchment population. This role combines preventive care, acute treatment, and long-term patient management, ensuring children receive safe, compassionate, and evidence-based healthcare.]

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to pediatric patients in OPD, IPD, NICU, and emergency settings.

  • Conduct regular patient assessments, diagnosis, management, and follow-up of childhood illnesses.

  • Perform life‑saving emergency procedures and oversee stabilization of critical pediatric patients.

  • Support the management of neonatal complications, severe malnutrition, pediatric infectious diseases, and trauma cases.

  • Ensure proper documentation, clinical audits, and adherence to national pediatric care protocols.

  • Provide on‑the‑job coaching and mentorship to medical officers, nurses, and NICU staff.

  • Participate in hospital ward rounds, case discussions, referral decisions, and multidisciplinary meetings.

  • Strengthen infection prevention and control (IPC) practices in all pediatric wards.

  • Collaborate with hospital management and IMC teams on service improvement and reporting.

  • Manage hospitalized children, coordinate treatment plans, and respond to pediatric emergencies.

  • Educate families on nutrition, safety, mental health, and disease prevention.

  • Counsel parents on child behavior, wellness, and long-term health strategies.

  • Work with nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals to deliver holistic care.

  • Coordinate with subspecialists when advanced care is required.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and comply with healthcare regulations.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) with specialization in Pediatrics

  • Valid medical license in Pediatrics

  • Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience post-specialization

  • Strong communication and empathy skills for working with children and families

  • Experience in humanitarian or low-resource settings is an added advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Fluency in English (required); knowledge of local language(s) is an advantage.

  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and professional ethics.

  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced outbreak environments.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

  • Proactive, flexible, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
