Job Description

Cost accountants help businesses by overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization. They review services and goods, record data, and make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize budget requests of work units and participate in the preparation of annual budget. 

  • Conduct cost studies and support the installation and maintenance of appropriate cost allocation plans/costing system to ensure cost effectiveness and profitability.

  • Prepare cost estimates of new or special products for establishing selling prices and production forecasts.

  • Record and analyze cost of raw materials, spare parts, labor, overhead, and services to evaluate cost effectiveness and profitability of the Company.  

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain cost accounting records for various cost items. 

  • Organize cost reports that help as an input in the preparation of periodic financial statements.  

  • Prepare budgeted financial statements and schedules. 

  • Perform adjusting entries and correct errors on periodic financial reports.

  • Follow up the proper utilization of approved capital and operational budgets and report findings to immediate supervisor.  

  • Prepare monthly consumption report based on records of incoming and issued materials. 

  • Perform various cost analyses including standard cost development, average pricing analysis, margin and cost ratio analysis, inventory control, variance analysis. 

  • Reconcile stock items with store balance (bin card) and general accounts records.

  • Compute total costs of all goods in transit to prepare cost build-up of goods.

  • Collect cost and operational data for preparation of management and cost reports and reviews. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with relevant work experience in factory and Furniture manufacturing

Experience

  • 4-5 years of experience in similar role.

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

•     Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP

•     Strong financial analysis skills.

•     Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

•     Strong organizational and stress management skills.

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.

•     Ability to train and manage staff.

•     Ability to work with little to no supervision.
