Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Manager with extensive experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector to lead our sales team and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies in the competitive Ethiopian market. This role requires a deep understanding of FMCG distribution channels, trade marketing, and key account management to expand our market share and strengthen our brand presence.

Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve company sales goals and profitability. Translate business objectives into clear, actionable sales plans for the team.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve and exceed their individual and team targets. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and identify training needs to foster a high-performance culture.
Route-to-Market & Distribution Management: Design and optimize the distribution network, including wholesalers, distributors, and key accounts, to ensure maximum product availability and visibility across all channels.
Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers, including major supermarkets, distributors, and institutional clients. Lead negotiations on trading terms, pricing, and promotional activities.
Trade Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective trade marketing and in-store promotional activities that drive consumer uptake and enhance brand visibility.
Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Accurately forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenues. Provide regular, detailed reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity to senior management.
Budget Management: Prepare and manage the sales budget, ensuring all sales activities are conducted within the approved financial parameters.
Market Intelligence: Stay current with market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities within the Ethiopian FMCG landscape to identify new business opportunities and potential threats.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive sales experience within the FMCG sector is mandatory. At least 2-3 years of experience in a sales management or supervisory role, leading a team of sales representatives.
Demonstrable track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Sector-Specific Skills:
In-depth knowledge of the Ethiopian FMCG market, including key players, distribution channels (modern and traditional trade), and consumer dynamics.
Proven experience in managing distributor networks and developing joint business plans.
