Job Description
HaHuJobs is seeking a visionary and experienced female Project Lead to spearhead the STEM Education for Empowerment Project (STEEP) in Ethiopia. STEEP is an initiative led by Humber International Development Institute with funding from the Government of Canada, through Global Affairs Canada, and The Barrett Family Foundation. The project is being implemented in partnership with HaHuJobs in Ethiopia and CAP - Youth Empowerment Institute in Kenya.
This women-led initiative, aims to provide gender-responsive training and support for adolescent girls pursuing studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Project Lead will drive the strategic direction and overall implementation of the project, which aims to empower over 15,000 girls over the next three years through secondary schools and HaHuJobs employment center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The In-School Training Officer will focus on developing and implementing STEM education programs for adolescent girls aged 14-18 within middle and secondary schools in Ethiopia. This position contributes to the project's goal of empowering over 15,000 girls over the next three years. The role requires someone with a strong background in high school teaching and curriculum development, particularly in STEM subjects. The officer will work closely with schools, educators, and stakeholders to ensure the educational needs of adolescent girls are met effectively within the formal school system.

Gross Salary: 877.62 USD
Design and develop engaging STEM curriculum and training materials tailored for in-school adolescent girls
Implement STEM education training programs at community youth centers, ensuring content is accessible and relevant to the target audience
Coordinate with schools, local community leaders and youth center staff to organize and conduct training sessions
Facilitate hands-on STEM activities, workshops, and practical learning experiences for participants
Develop and maintain partnerships with local STEM professionals and industry partners to provide mentorship and career guidance
Organize STEM-related events, competitions, and exhibitions to showcase participants' projects and achievements
Provide comprehensive support and guidance to participants, addressing their unique learning needs and challenges
Collaborate with the project team to integrate digital tools and technologies into the training programs
Monitor and evaluate the progress of participants, collecting data on program effectiveness and impact
Contribute to the development of success stories and case studies highlighting the achievements of out-of-school girls in STEM
Participate in community outreach activities to promote STEM education and recruit participants for the program
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM field, or related discipline; Master's degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in education or training, preferably with a focus on STEM subjects for in-school youth
Have experience teaching in formal education settings (Middle and High schools) specifically on subject like mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics and technology
Strong knowledge of STEM education methodologies and best practices for engaging adolescent learners
Ability to teach emerging technologies to young learners
Experience in curriculum development and implementation, particularly for non-formal education settings
Demonstrated ability to create interactive and hands-on learning experiences
Excellent understanding of gender issues in education and STEM fields
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners
Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of other local languages is an asset
Proficiency in using educational technologies and digital learning tools
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in diverse communities
Creativity and adaptability in addressing challenges faced by in-school adolescent girls

This position will involve extensive travel to community youth centers across the city. The successful candidate will work closely with local partners, schools, community organizations, and government entities.
