Senior Laboratory Technician takes charge of leading the overall Laboratory procedures that are technical in nature. The major tasks include receiving, labeling and analyzing samples, designing and executing laboratory testing, conducting experiments, recording all data, mentoring junior staff, supervising and training laboratory assistants and other staff, maintaining equipment and checking to see if the workers comply with the safety guidelines and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs all laboratory examinations

• Ensures accurate record keeping of results

•  Complies with all laboratory policies and regulations 

• Ensures the security and proper maintenance of the laboratory and the equipment.

• Sets up, calibrates, cleans, and tests the functionality of the medical laboratory equipment.

• Monitors the availability/expiry dates of reagents and the proper functioning of laboratory equipment.

• Prepares job aids, Standard Operating Protocols, Formats, Guidelines, and Manuals for the different laboratory procedures 

• Manages performance of junior laboratory technicians, provides feedback, develops performance improvement plans, trains the team, and shares knowledge related to laboratory functions with the team members.

• Performs other tasks as deemed necessary and assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Technology or in a related field of study

Experience:

• 2-4 working experience
