Job Description

A Dispatcher is a professional who ensures that everything runs smoothly by coordinating with customers, providing precise logistics for drivers to follow along on their routes, and coordinating delivery times

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily dispatch operations, ensuring timely delivery of goods.

  • Develop and implement efficient dispatch processes and procedures.

  • Monitor vehicle and driver performance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams regarding shipment status and any issues that arise.

  • Analyse dispatch metrics and prepare reports for management on operational performance.

  • Resolve any logistical issues or delays promptly and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall service delivery.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply chain Management, or in a related field of study with relevant work experience

  • Minimum year of experience in dispatch or logistics management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with drivers to facilitate smooth loading and unloading processes.

  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.

 Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and operational staff during the evening shift.

Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.

Liaise with other departments to resolve any issues that may arise during dispatch operations.

Documentation:

  • Ensure all dispatch documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain records of all shipments, including logs of deliveries and any discrepancies.

  • Prepare reports on dispatch activities, including performance metrics and any issues encountered.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all dispatch activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Conduct safety checks of vehicles and equipment before dispatching.

  • Report any incidents or accidents promptly to management.
