Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, managing payroll and tax filings, preparing financial reports, and coordinating audits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, withholding tax, and pension contributions

  • Manage payroll processing and statutory deductions

  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow

  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions

  • Support internal and external audits with timely documentation

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and Journal postings

  • Implement and monitor internal financial controls

  • Provide financial insights to support budgeting and forecasting

Job Requirement:

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a senior role

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Peachtree

  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and GAAP/IFRS

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • High integrity and attention to detail
