Job Description
Cost accountants help businesses by overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization. They review services and goods, record data, and make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.
Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Develop and implement cost accounting systems and procedures.
Conduct cost audits and support inventory management.
Collaborate with production and other departments to ensure accurate costing.
Monitor cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare cost forecasts, budgets, and manage cost control activities.
Job Requirements
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, preferably in manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, with a strong background in manufacturing.
Required Skills
In-depth knowledge of cost accounting procedures and principles.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Peachtree.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
Experience in preparing cost forecasts, analyzing cost variances, and conducting internal cost audits.
Good knowledge of IFRS.
